The PROPOSAL

Once you have your QUESTION it is easy to write your PROPOSAL.

Your QUESTION will guide you through this as it has already yielded an idea for you about what you are going to do (aka "the experiment").

The trickiest thing about the PROPOSAL is deciding WHO (if anyone) you will work with and getting parent signatures!

Please click here for a copy of the PROPOSAL FORM.

PROPOSAL FORMS ARE DUE TO MS BUTTARS on FRIDAY 12/2

Your QUESTION

There is a big difference between "doing something cool with science" or a "research project" and a Science Fair Project.

I describe this a question that will have an "either/or" answer. Something that you will find out by DOING an experiment. Your question also lets us pretty much know what your experiment will be.

Here are some GOOD Science Fair questions:

"Does temperature affect the rate of butterfly development?" (raising butterflies in different temperatures)

"Does salt water boil faster than tap water?" (comparing time from room temp to boil with salt and tap water)

"Can I kick more accurately from straight on or from an angle?" (kicking soccer balls from different places on a line towards a target)

"Which shape boat will hold the most pennies?"

Here are some BAD Science Fair questions:

"Why can't I stop eating cake?" (what's the experiment going to be)

"Which gun shoots farthest?" (this is something that you can easily look up this information on the product website)

"Can I build a rocket?" (building something from a kit will generally not result in an experiment)
